How to make your goals achievable

Goal setting is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, that enables individuals to improve themselves, achieve their dreams, and live a more fulfilling life. However, there are times in in life when we feel so overwhelmed with the sheer volume of what we want to achieve, that we feel stuck and are unsure of how to take that next step.

SMART goals are helpful because they provide a clear roadmap, for achieving specific objectives. SMART is an acronym for goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound, that can help individuals achieve their objectives effectively.

They help individuals focus on what needs to be accomplished, while also providing a way to measure progress and success. SMART goals help individuals break down larger, long-term objectives into smaller, more manageable action steps, making it easier to stay motivated and on track. By setting SMART goals, individuals can improve productivity, increase efficiency, and achieve their desired outcomes more effectively.

To ensure your goals are clear and achievable, each one should be:

S - Specific: The goal is clearly defined and specific in terms of what needs to be accomplished.

M - Measurable: The goal is measurable, and progress can be tracked over time.

A - Achievable: The goal is realistic and attainable given the resources available.

R - Relevant: The goal is relevant and aligned with the overall mission or vision of the individual.

T - Time-bound: The goal has a specific deadline or timeline for completion.

By implementing SMART goals, individuals can create a clear roadmap for their future, stay motivated and accountable, work efficiently and effectively, and ultimately achieve their desired outcomes with greater confidence and success. This means they are more likely to realise their dreams and reach their full potential, resulting in improved wellbeing and subsequent quality of life.
